Thank you for your interest in Gay's story!

This website and blog is dedicated to our daughter, sister, and friend, Gay Waldvogel. Gay was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor in July of 2020, during the COVID pandemic and transitioned to the next place on October 1st, 2020. This site is a way for us to tell her story and honor her life. We love her dearly and miss having her in our lives.

Gay was born with cerebral palsy and developmental delays in the late 1960s, before the Federal Disability Act of 1991. Through 50 plus years of unending support and love from her family, Gay has opened doors for her peers and challenged what it means to live life as a differently abled person. She was mobile by wheelchair and reliant on others to be her voice, take care of her daily needs (eating, bathing, toileting) and advocate for her rights. Gay's bright personality touched the lives of many people and she inspired her family to speak up for people who need their voices amplified to be heard.
